The plant is 30-60 cm high and has a non tuberous rhizome. The stem is mostly bald. The stiff, amplexicaul, lanceolate stem leaves are shiny, bald or from below and along the edge short hairs. The net-like veins on the top of the page jump.
The willow Inula flower from June to August with bright yellow flowers and yellow ribbon edge florets, which together form a 2.5 to 4 cm large head. The elongated omwindselbladen to the edge and have a hairy back beaten top.
The fruit is a nearly bare nut. The fruit fluff consists of 30-35 hairs.
